NHL Mourns the Loss of Former Referee & Director
Today the hockey world is in mourning at the tragic news of the passing of Wally Harris at the age of 88.
Harris officiated over 1000 games in the NHL, which included 85 during the Stanley Cup playoffs between 1966 & 1983. After hanging up his whistle and skates, Harris was named the first league director of officials.
It is clear that Harris blazed a trail for those after him and made an impact on how officiating and the league handle matters of that sort.
Those of us at Blade of Steel offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Wally Harris and to those he impacted along the way.
