The NHL hit a home run with the Four Nations, and with the Olympic Games coming up, they could be set to cancel the All-Star Game for a second straight season.
In 2026, the NHL will return to the Olympic Games around the same time, and now, the NHL is reportedly considering doing away with the All-Star Game once again as the stars of the league will be in Italy to showcase the sport once more.
It certainly hasn't been confirmed, but according to Insider Pierre LeBrun, it's certainly been a consideration, with many fans not wanting to go back to the meaningless game after what we saw a few weeks ago.
However, with the Olympic Games, there's no opportunity to play a Four Nations style tournament, so there's certainly an opportunity for the league to do an ASG once again heading into the Olympics as a way to show off their biggest stars.
If it does go ahead once again, it will be the New York Islanders as the host team of the event, and with the future of the All-Star Game as we know it potentially in the balance, if it does go ahead, the NHL will need to find a way to make it much more engaging for their fans.
Ultimately, the ASG is a good way for fans to connect to their favourite players with every team represented on the biggest stage, and while the Four Nations was a win that everyone wants to see again, that can't happen every year, so now we wait and see how this plays out moving forward.
