Trouba unleashed a high hit near the blue line, launching himself into Kyrou's head with an extended arm and elbow. Kyrou dropped immediately, clutching his head, and that brought about an immediate response from Blues captain Brayden Schenn.
Schenn, fresh off a pregame ceremony for his 1000th NHL game, wasted no time dropping the gloves with Trouba.
Trouba won the fight against Schenn
While Schenn was the one who initiated the fight, it was Trouba who came out on top, landing several hard right hands that sent Schenn down to the ice.
Both players received fighting majors, with Schenn also taking a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Despite losing the fight, Schenn and the Blues had the final laugh, cruising to a 7-2 victory. He even opened the scoring just 41 seconds into the game. Kyrou, for his part, shrugged off the hit to tally three assists in the win.
Anaheim, at 65 points, remained in sixth in the Pacific Division and is eight points out of a playoff spot.
