A pair of former first-rounders are among 17 on the waiver wire on Thursday, October 3rd, with the opening night roster submission date right around the corner.
In less than one week, teams around the National Hockey League will need to submit their respective rosters for opening night and in order to assign some of those players to the minors, they need to go through waivers.
According to PuckPedia on Tuesday afternoon, a total of 17 players were placed on the waiver wire for the purpose of being assigned to the American Hockey League in time for their training camps, which get underway early this week. Among those on the wire today is 2010 first-round pick Jarred Tinordi and 2019 first-round pick Tobias Bjornfot.
It's expected to be busy on the wire as the week goes on and for Thursday's crop of players on waivers, we'll have to wait until Friday at 2 pm ET to see if anyone is claimed or if they'll be assigned to the American Hockey League. The San Jose Sharks get the first crack at making a waiver claim as they finished last in the NHL in the 2023-24 season. They'll get first dibs on waiver claims until November 1st.
