There was a lot of controversy in last night's game between the Canadiens and Canucks, which has many people pointing the finger at horrible officiating.

The Montreal Canadiens' hard-fought 4-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks last night was anything but smooth sailing.
Martin St-Louis' squad had one more obstacle to navigate, not from their opponents, but from the officiating. And, as many had foreseen, referee Chris Lee was squarely at the center of it.

Habs fans were fuming all over social media

In the aftermath of the game, social media was buzzing with anger, and the refereeing was the hottest topic of debate, especially for Canadiens fans. For a second time this season, Chris Lee was under the microscope for making life difficult for the Habs.
Statistics clearly indicate that the Canadiens have a difficult time when Lee is refereeing, and many can't help but ask why he is still assigned to their games.
Never attribute to malice that which you can attribute to incompetence.

Chris Lee is bad at his job, but he is equally bad all the time. I take some solace in that.

The least possible solace, but solace nonetheless.

- Marc Dumont

Thursday evening was no exception. Even NHL insider Renaud Lavoie had a comment about it, which is saying quite a bit.
"The penalty on David Savard wasn't one. Guess who the referee was?"

- Renaud Lavoie, TVA Sports
To top it off, the Canucks capitalized on a crucial power play from one of Lee's botched calls, which only fueled the fire.
"The Habs managed to beat both Chris Lee AND the Vancouver Canucks!"

Suffice it to say Chris Lee is not doing himself any favors reputation-wise among fans in Montreal, and quite possibly elsewhere around the league too.
