Jordan Eberle could face suspension after dangerous hit
Sometimes, the National Hockey League leaves you questioning how a penalty is only a minor. This has happened a lot during the regular season but seems to be happening even more in the playoffs, which to some degree, was to be expected.
However, last night during game 6 between the Colorado Avalanche and the Seattle Kraken, Seattle forward Jordan Eberle decided to finish his check while seeing numbers and only got a minor penalty:
Eberle somehow didn't get a 5 for this. Such a dangerous play <\q>
Not only is this a terrible hit from behind on Avalanche forward Andrew Cogliano it's also I'm an area you can never make a hit. He's so far away from the boards that the only result will be an injury. Forget the minor that was assessed on the play and how wrong that call was. This should still be reviewed by the NHL Department of Player Safety.
Jordan Eberle is not usually a dirty type of player, but the onus is on him to know when to not make contact on a hit. If the NHL truly wants dangerous hits like this out of the game, this should be a suspendable offence.
