The officiating in the National Hockey League has been abysmal for years now, but to have a bad penalty call happen with seconds remaining in a pivotal game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final has to be a new low.

With just 11 seconds left in the 3rd period of game 3 with the game tied at 2, Panther defender Gustav Forsling gets called for a tripping penalty and head coach Paul Maurice absolutely loses it behind the bench; take a look.

Paul Maurice to referee Dan O'Rourke at the end of regulation: "There's no f***ing trip! There's no trip!"

This looks to be a phantom call if I've ever seen one; it looks like Chandler Stephenson trips over himself on this play.

Maurice is right to be livid behind the bench. Thankfully for Florida they would go on to kill off the penalty in overtime and win the game.

However you look at it, if you're a fan of the teams playing or not the NHL needs to fix their officiating problem. This is long past inexcusable.
