Senators forward Nick Cousins opened up for the first time since getting fined by the NHL for shooting pucks at Maple Leafs goalie Anthony Stolarz during warmups.

Last week, after an investigation, the NHL announced that Nick Cousins was fined for unsportsmanlike conduct, for something that went down during the warmups ahead of the third game of the Battle of Ontario between the Ottawa Senators and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
For the first time since being sanctioned by the NHL, Nick Cousins held a media availability and was asked to comment on the incident as well as the League's decision.
He talked about how he is friends with Anthony Stolarz, as they played together many times in the past; that they usually talk once a week but hadn't since the series started, and said he was happy to see him playing the best hockey of his career:
"I've played with Stolie numerous times in my career and probably talk to him once a week.

I haven't spoken to him since the start of the series - we'll save that for after.

He's playing really well for them right now. Honestly, he's playing the best hockey of his career. I'm happy for him."

The Toronto Maple Leafs could become the first team to confirm their ticket to the second round of the playoffs, but the Senators won't make things easy for them.
Cousins and his team are confident that they will have their best performance tomorrow, in what would be their final game of the year if they lose.
Here's what he said about his team's situation:
"I think we still have another gear to get to. There's no better place to show it than on the road. With our backs against the wall, I think you're going to see our best tomorrow night."

"We know we can't win the series tomorrow, but our main focus is just going there and winning one game."

"They're going to have their crowd behind them, a lot of energy, being at home. If we can win one game, take it period by period, not get too far ahead of ourselves, and bring it back to Ottawa - then use our crowd to our advantage in Game 6 - anything can happen in a Game 7."

The Battle of Ontario will continue Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.
