Another former 1st round pick wants out of Winnipeg, demands trade

With the Trade Deadline exactly 24 hours away, we have seen some historic activity happen the last couple weeks. This is the time of year where playoff teams load up, sellers trade for picks and sometimes we see deals where players need fresh starts.

This could be the case with Winnipeg Jets young defenceman Logan Stanley. The hulking 6'7 228 pound defender is having a tough 3rd season with the Jets. He has only been able to get in 13 games so far this season, failing to earn the trust of head coach Rick Bowness, averaging just 13:24 in ice time. Stanley hasn't been able to utilize his huge frame on a consistence basis.

The 18th overall pick from 2016 is in the final year of his contract with a cap hit of $900,000 and will be an RFA with arbitration rights.

With his use this season it's not surprising that Stanley has asked the Jets to move him on for a fresh start according to insider Elliotte Friedman.

"There has been «some action around Jets defenceman Logan Stanley." Friedman said, «Someone told me they were actually surprised that he didn't go to Nashville in the Niederreiter trade. But I've heard there's been a little talk about Stanley as the Jets look to do some things.»

At the end of the day a trade request doesn't mean much. If the Jets' general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff sees a fit to make Winnipeg better he will pull the trigger but there is no guarantee.
