With training camps set to open later this week, most offseason business has been handled but the Ottawa Senators still need to figure out a new contract with restricted free agent forward Shane Pinto. Reports have confirmed that both parties aren't close on a new contract.
Ottawa have less than $800,000 in available space to make a deal work. The New York native had a strong rookie season, playing all 82 games , scoring 20 goals and 35 points.
Ottawa will be reluctant to give up on Pinto but if the salary demands are too high than a trade to Philadelphia could make sense. The Flyers have the space ,draft capital to make a deal work and holes all over the lineup for Pinto to fill. We wait to see how the chips fall for Ottawa.
