It's long been speculated that among the core four in the Toronto Maple Leafs organization, if one were to be dealt, it would be none other than William Nylander. Wether you agree or disagree, it appears that he will be the odd man out in Toronto before long.
Not a lot of information is known about the deal being worked on presently, but Eklund has said that JG Pageau is involved and would be part of a package that goes the other way should this deal happen.
Nylander, 27 appeared in all 82 games for the Leafs last season scoring 40 goals and adding 47 assists for a total of 87 points, but with Tavares and Marner under contract for two more seasons and Matthews needing a new deal after this coming season, it's always made sense that Nylander would be the one to go.
The surprising part of all of this though, would be the team he gets dealt to if this comes to fruition, but this is certainly something to keep an eye on.
