One Of The Core Four Could Be Moved After All

When new general manager Brad Treliving took over for the Toronto Maple Leafs, one of the first things he did was pour cold water on the idea of trading one of the Core Four in John Tavares, Mitch Marner, William Nylander and Auston Matthews.

Both Nylander and Matthews are eligible to sign contract extensions on July 1. Matthews made things clear his intention is to stay a Maple Leaf for the foreseeable future. The same can be said from Nylander, who mentioned in his end of season press conference he doesn't want to play anywhere else.

Reporter Howard Berger is hearing the Leafs are working "diligently» on a pre-draft trade. Involving a member of the Core-4, Perhaps Nylander, or Matthews.

If your hedging your bets Nylander is the most likely option. Treliving will look to hit his first deal out of the park. This will be extremely hard to do, if your moving one of Nylander, Matthews and Marner, it's hard to envision them not the best players in the deal.

Whatever the case things should be very interesting in Leaf land as the Draft and Free Agency quickly approach.
