In hockey, they're a certain positions that are more valuable than others, positions that you rarely can get filled via the trade market. Those are centre, defence and goaltending. Getting a top 4 defender via trade means you're going to give up a lot of assets to do it these days.
According to Eklund from HockeyBuzz.com, the New Jersey Devils have been in talks with the Vancouver Canucks regarding defender Quinn Hughes and what it would take to get him out of a Canucks uniform: take a look.
Hughes, 23, skated in 78 games for the Canucks las season, putting up 76 points including 7 goals and 69 assists. If New Jersey is serious about acquiring a Quinn, the cost won't be cheap.
The question is: will the Canucks entertain trade talks when it comes to the cornerstone of their defence? Who knows, but it's certainly something to keep an eye on as the off-season starts winding down.
