A trade that occurred earlier this season between the Dallas Stars and San Jose Sharks has officially been finalized.

The Dallas Stars are looking like one of the top contenders for the Stanley Cup this season.
The team is in the middle of a cold stretch, but key players including Jake Oettinger have been getting extra rest ahead of the playoffs.
The team still looks as dangerous as ever on paper thanks to the savvy work of general manager Jim Nill this season.
Arguably his most significant move of the season came when he acquired Mikael Granlund from the San Jose Sharks.
The 33-year-old has had one of the most productive years of his career, putting up 22 goals and 66 points in 80 games split between San Jose and Dallas.
He has seven goals and 21 points in 28 games since the trade.
Now that the regular season is just about wrapped up, the trade that sent Granlund to the Stars has officially been completed.
The Sharks were to receive a conditional first round pick in 2025 as part of the return for the center.
The condition was that the Stars had to qualify for the playoffs in order for the pick to be transferred. The Stars have clinched a playoff spot, and are now locked into 2nd place in the Central Division.

This officially gives the Sharks five first round picks and 5 second round picks across the next three drafts.
That gives them plenty of assets to add to their already league-leading prospect pool as they attempt to come out of their rebuild.
For Dallas, they will hope to make it back to the Stanley Cup finals for the first time since 2020.
