A reporter revealed that the New York Rangers could be looking to make a blockbuster trade for a big and rugged forward ahead of the deadline.
USA Today's reporter Phil Kocher wrote on X that the Rangers could be interested in acquiring McCarron from the Predators, notably due to his physical skills:
McCarron is coming off a great performance against the Florida Panthers. Even if his team lost 4-1, he stood out by
dropping the gloves and scoring his team's only goal of the game.
McCarron, 29, scored eight points, including three goals, in 50 games this season.
The Predators have been having a terrible season, and no one seems safe in Nashville as of now. McCarron recently opened up about the ongoing trade rumors surrounding himself and his teammates in a recent interview, saying it's always tough at this time of the year:
"It's kind of sad. You get close to guys, and then you see guys go. Whether that's you or a teammate, it's not always the best feeling."
"I don't think about it because it's out of my control. What am I going to do? Just continue to show up every day and play hard. I think that's all you can do as a professional athlete. You have to compartmentalize that."
Adding a player of his style for the playoffs would make sense for the Rangers. They have the firepower, but could need further physical skills in the playoffs. He also has great penalty-killing skills, which would be useful for the Blueshirts.
