It's always tough when a star player goes on the shelf when the regular season is right around the corner, but that's exactly what happened with Anaheim Ducks as they have announced a key member of their team is going to be away from the team after having emergency surgery.
The Anaheim Ducks took to their X account to announce that goaltender John Gibson would miss at least 3 to 6 weeks after undergoing an emergency appendectomy.
Gibson, 31, played in 44 games with the Ducks compiling a record of 13-27-2 with an .888 save percentage and a 3.54 goals against average.
I'm glad that John Gibson was able to get the medical attention. He desperately needed in this case and that he won't miss an extended period of time however, if you're a Ducks fan, this could not have come at a worse time, especially when you want to prove that the organization as a whole can get out of the basement.
We'll have to see how much this effects what the Anaheim Ducks decide to do with their goaltending situation, but as is commonplace almost every year, either injury woes, or a bad start leave the Ducks at the bottom of the standings.
