Former Coyotes defenceman says the team needs to leave Arizona
The Arizona Coyotes are likely on their last legs and the future of the team in the state remains unclear following the 2023-24 season.
In an interview with the 'Donnie & Dhali' show, former Arizona Coyotes defenceman Ed Jovanovski decided to speak up about the teams current situation and says that it's time that they leave the state and go elsewhere.
"Get them out of there. It has been happening for years, the league was signing my cheques when I played there. It is not working." Jovanovski said.
The Windsor native has a good point, it's not working. It's frustrating to see that the league continues to do whatever it takes to keep the Coyotes in Arizona, when they did very little to keep the Whalers in Hartford, Nordiques in Quebec, Jets 1.0 in Winnipeg and Thrashers in Atlanta.
Jovanovski spent five years of his National Hockey League career with the Coyotes between 2006 and 2011, amassing 164 points in 332 games.
While the Coyotes have been confirmed to be returning to Mullett Arena for the 2023-24 season, the future in Arizona is not looking good and relocation to either Houston, Salt Lake City, Kansas City or Sacramento seems likely.
