The Boston Bruins cleared plenty of cap space on Monday afternoon after they shipped former first-overall pick Taylor Hall, as well as Nick Foligno, to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a pair of restricted free agent defencemen.
If Bertuzzi hits the free agent market on July 1st at noon ET, there will be several teams vying for his services and according to Andy Strickland, one of those teams is the Florida Panthers.
Bertuzzi, 28, struggled with hand injuries earlier in the 2022-23 season, but was able to appear in 50 games between the Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins. In those 50 games, the Sudbury native tallied 30 points (eight goals, 22 assists), 29 penalty minutes and was a minus-eight.
He was also one of Boston's best players during their first round series against the Florida Panthers, putting up ten points in seven games while being a physical menace, so it's clear to see why Bill Zito has interest in signing him this summer.
