Charlie McAvoy Gets Booted from Game for Hit to the Head

I'm not sure it was intentional, but the result is the same regardless. A five minute match penalty for an illegal check to the head.
Charlie McAvoy has been booted from tonight's game between the Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers for this hit on Oliver Ekman-Larsson. The head is clearly the point of contact.
The match penalty triggers an automatic review by the NHL's Department of Player Safety, and I'd be willing to bet a hearing is in McAvoy's future. The blueliner had earlier scored the goal that would end up sending to the game to overtime.
