Head coach facing likely fine after becoming first coach ejected this season
The NHL has become very protective of their officials. Going as far as to ban teams, coaches and General Managers from even the slightest criticism. This began last season, but it has continued into this season.
Tonight Greg Cronin became the first Head Coach to be ejected. Cronin was incensed after a failed Coach's Challenge. Cronin immediately blew up on the official receiving a 2 minute minor for his troubles.
Ducks head coach Greg Cronin was furious with the call and received a bench minor for unsportsmanlike conduct, on top of the delay of game minor for a failed coaches challenge. 😳
On the play the Ducks ended up on a 5 on 3 penalty kill, having to kill the penalty for the failed challenge and Cronin's bench minor. Evgeni Malkin would score on the ensuing powerplay to tie the game.
