The interesting saga between Boston Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk and the team seems to be heating up again after the Bruins announced that DeBrusk is a scratch for tonight's game against the LA Kings. DeBrusk is not hurt. Boston coach Jim Montgomery told reporters that DeBrusk was late for a team meeting, and will sit out tonight's game as punishment.

DeBrusk broke into the league in 2018 after being drafted by the Bruins 14th overall two years earlier. He had some solid seasons before starting to sputter in 2020. In 2021, DeBrusk formally requested a trade out of Boston. Not long after, he went on a hot streak that he managed to maintain, and ended up signing a new deal with the Bruins in 2022. Now would be a bad time for Debrusk's play to drop again as he'll be a free agent at the end of the season.

DeBrusk's current deal carries a cap hit of $3.675 million in 2023-24.
