The Boston Bruins cleared some salary earlier this week by shipping Taylor Hall, as well as Nick Foligno, to the Chicago Blackhawks for a pair of pending restricted free agent defencemen.

With Hall's $6 million salary coming off the books, general manager Don Sweeney has plenty of wiggle room when it comes to free agency on Saturday when trying to build his roster for the 2023-24 season.

One priority for Sweeney was to try and re-sign pending unrestricted free agent forward Tyler Bertuzzi, but it appears that things have gone south between both sides.

According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, Bertuzzi will test the free agent market when it opens on July 1st at 12 p.m. ET.

"Tyler Bertuzzi is going to test the UFA market." Pagnotta said.

Bertuzzi, 28, was traded to the Bruins from Detroit back on March 2nd and had a pretty successful stint in Boston, despite their early exit from the playoffs at the hands of the Florida Panthers.

In 50 games this season with the Red Wings and Bruins, the Sudbury native recorded 30 points (eight goals, 22 assists), 29 penalty minutes and was a minus-eight. He added ten points in seven games during the playoffs and was no doubt Boston's best player during their first round series.
