Many believed that Elias Lindholm's addition, as well as Jeremy Swayman's contract extension, would give the Bruins some momentum going into the 2024-25 NHL season, but things haven't been turning their way yet.
Despite being fourth in the Atlantic Division rankings, the Boston Bruins aren't happy with their performances so far this season. Two years after getting a record-breaking season, the Bruins have an 8-9-3 record, failing to meet the management's expectations.
Head coach Jim Montgomery came up in many rumors, notably suggesting that the Bruins could fire him if he failed to turn things around for his team.
Unfortunately, he's struggling to bring his team back on the winning side.
Last night, despite calling up major reinforcements from the AHL ahead of the game, the Bruins lost 5-1 against the Blue Jackets, one of the worst teams in the NHL this season. They were even booed off the ice after the game.
Right after the game, it was announced that the Bruins would cancel their practice, leaving many to believe a major move could be announced.
When teams lose in such a fashion, coaches like to get a practice the day after to deal with players' mistakes right away. However, that's not what's going to happen in Boston today.
With the Bruins' next game set to go down on Thursday, the team has until then to work out their issues, either it's on the ice for the players, or in the office of general manager Don Sweeney for Montgomery.
Whatever happens, we expect the team to explain why they canceled today's practice soon. Stay tuned to get up to speed on the latest developments regarding Montgomery's fate with the Bruins.
