Now, that accountability has continued, as Montgomery benched superstar forward David Pastrnak during their latest win, citing a 'coaches decision' as the reason for the move with little explanation beyond that.
While Pastrnak leads the team with 11 points in 13 games played, he's not been the player we've seen in recent years who continually generates high danger chances night after night, and perhaps this is the move to spark his season. Now, he has spoken out about the move from Montgomery, and unsurprisingly given what we know of him as a leader, he's taking accountability for his play.
Given that this team is full of youth, it's the right move for Pastrnak to be a leader and avoid becoming a locker room drama, and while the play hasn't been there, we all know he's capable of bouncing back and playing at an MVP level. With the Bruins now back to .500 on the season, they're looking to use this as a motivator to continue pushing their way back up the standings, but if Pastrnak continues to play at this level, it's unclear what could happen.
