The Boston Bruins appear ready to move on from Trent Frederic, but now the young forward is considered week-to-week with an injury that could be the final blow to his career with the Bruins.
This season hasn't gone the way that anyone would have expected in Boston, and with the team sitting outside the Stanley Cup Playoffs, it appears that they could be
ready to make some big moves.
Now, one of those potential trade pieces has gone down with an injury, as it has been reported that Trent Frederic is now considered week-to-week with a lower-body injury that he suffered during the Wednesday night loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
According to TSN's Chris Johnston however, it's not expected to change the teams plans, as he still remains likely to be on the move over the next week at some point unless the Bruins turn things around quickly and change their plans.
This season, Frederic has followed up a career high 40 points from a year ago with just 8 goals and 15 points in 57 games played, but given the physical, 200ft game that he plays, he'd be a very good pickup for the bottom-six of a Stanley Cup contending team.
Standing at 6-foot-3, Frederic is a very imposing physical force, and with a $2.3 million salary cap hit that expires after this current season, he represents a very cheap option for contending teams that may not want to go out and spend big on a superstar.
Ultimately, the Bruins have likely already made up their minds on what they want to do with Frederic, and this injury won't change their minds one way or another, so whether it's Frederic or captain
Brad Marchand, expect plenty of movement and interest around Boston over the next week.
