Mason Lohrei has been struggling mightily this season, and now former NHLer Mike Commodore has embarrassed him with his latest post on social media.
With his 894th career goal in the NHL, Alex Ovechkin has been the story of the NHL over the 2024/25 season, with that attention reaching fever pitch following a double on Friday that tied him for first in NHL history with Wayne Gretzky.
However, a former NHLer in Mike Commodore has now used that to bring attention to and embarrass another player that hasn't been doing quite as well with his latest social media post.
On X, Commodore shared a screenshot of Mason Lohrei's recent performances, which include a combined -20 goal differential over his last 10 games, comparing this performance to a good one in golf, which is the worst possible statistic to be had for a defenseman.
With this recent stretch, Lohrei's differential on the season has come to a horrendous -38, and with the Bruins losing 10 straight, one has to wonder if he has a future at the NHL level.
At just 24-years of age, Lohrei has shown some potential, scoring 5 goals and 31 points in 71 games played this season, but with a combined -40 differential through 112 NHL games played, he unfortunately hasn't had much of a positive impact thus far.
The former second-round pick had high expectations coming into his Boston Bruins career, and while he has the size and the skill to compete at the highest level, it just hasn't been working thus far, and if he can't turn things around soon, the Bruins could look to give up on him in the coming years.
