Yes, you read that correctly. The social media account for the Hawk Tuah girl's podcast, Talk Tuah, has roasted Boston Bruins netminder Jeremy Swayman over his contract status.
If you don't know, which seems unlikely given that her face has been all over the internet this summer, Haliey Welch got famous for saying the words 'Hawk Tuah' when referring to a sexual act in a video that went viral on TikTok. In the months since, Welch has seen her popularity rise and now, she has her own podcast.
In a post on social media on Monday night, the Talk Tuah podcast asked for people to guess who this week's guest will be. Jokingly, Evan Marinofsky shared the post mentioning Jeremy Swayman's name to which the podcast replied by saying not after he rejected the team's $8 million x eight-year offer.
The Jeremy Swayman saga got a bit more ugly on Monday as the Bruins management group met with the media in the morning. Bruins President Cam Neely was asked about Swayman's contract status and he essentially revealed that the team offered the netminder a contract worth $64 million USD.
Hours after, Swayman's agent took to social media saying that this is the first time he's heard of an offer for $64 million and that they're going to evaluate their options in the coming days.
We'll have to wait and see how this situation develops in the coming days, but it's safe to say that both sides aren't happy how this has gone. The Boston Bruins put themselves into this position by trading Linus Ullmark to Ottawa without having a contract in place with Jeremy Swayman and now the team will start the 2024-25 with Joonas Korpisalo as their starter, something no one could've predicted three months ago.
