Buffalo Sabres center Dylan Cozens practiced with the team Wednesday for the first time since he was injured fighting the Philadelphia Flyers' Garnet Hathaway on Nov. 3.

The 22 year old was wearing a bandage over his nose, a nice size bruise under his left eye which caused him to wear a full face shield for extra protection.

Cozens and Hathaway fought with 1:56 remaining in a 5-1 blow out win for the Flyers. According to hockeyfights.com, it was Cozens' fifth career regular-season bout, and the 36th for Hathaway.

After some time to reflect, Cozens will be more selective with his opponent next time he drops the gloves.

«The situation probably didn't call for it there,» said Cozens, who slammed a ladder on his way off the ice. «I let my frustration get the best of me. I kind of went after him and it escalated a lot quicker than I had prepared myself for. I think I need to know who I'm going up against and be little smarter next time, for sure. It's definitely unneeded at the end of a game like that.»

Cozens has missed the Sabres last two games because of the injuries caused in the fight but hopes to play Friday against the Minnesota Wild. In 11 games this season Cozens has scored 3 goals and 7 points while averaging 15:43 in ice time.
