After suffering from a hip injury that's been causing him issues for the last couple of seasons, Patrick Kane underwent surgery earlier this month and is expected to be out of action for four-to-six months.

There may be some teams that will be hesitant to sign Kane when he becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1st due to his recent surgery and issues with his hip, but there's one team that may be interested in bringing him into their locker room - the Buffalo Sabres.

Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff said that the Buffalo Sabres, who are Kane's hometown team, may be a potential suitor for the three-time Stanley Cup champion.

"My thought process is, if there's one team that's going to go out on an absolute limb and sign Patrick Kane sight on scene, esentially, this summer it would probably be the Buffalo Sabres, the hometown team. Maybe you throw a couple million bucks at him when you have tons of salary cap space, clearly for a team going in the right direction." Seravalli said.

He added, "Other than that, I think it's going to come down to Patrick Kane looking in November or December and saying 'these are the teams that are off to a great start, I'd like to go chase a Stanley Cup there' and I think the teams are going to want to see Patrick Kane skating and get a view of that before committing what little cap space they have left to him."

Kane, 34, has played quite well over the last two seasons, despite dealing with a hip issue, recording 92 and 57 points respectively. He might not get back to where he has been in terms in point production, but adding a veteran presence like Kane to a relatively young Sabres roster would be very beneficial for the organization as they try to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2011.
