You don't even need to be following the NHL all that closely to know that the Calgary Flames seem to be in a state of chaos so far in 2023-24, and it doesn't appear as though things are going to get better any time.
Calgary lost 4-3 to the Dallas Stars last night and now have a dismal record of 2-7-1. On top of that, Johnathan Huberdeau, who is supposed to the the team's top player, was embarrassed by his coach in the final minutes.
To make matters even worse, Huberdeau is in the first year of his new 8-year contract, which carries an annual cap hit of $10.5 million. Right now, it's easily looking like one of, if not the worst contract in the league.
