The Calgary Flames had very high exceptions going into this season for obvious reasons and it hasn't panned out.
Last night, in a do or die game against the Nashville Predators that would eventually go to a shootout could've come down to a questionable decision made by head coach Darryl Sutter in the shootout, take a look:
*Darryl Sutter with the season on the line in a shootout*
Round 1, Johnathan Huberdeau: not terrible.. he scored..
Round 2, Nazem Kadri: doesn't score.. not a bad choice..
Round 3, fricken oh yeah bud let's put out Nick Ritchie with our season on the line! In the shootout with the season on the line, Sutter opts to go with Nick Ritchie instead of proven scores he still had sitting on the bench.
Last night was a microcosm of the Flames season with a questionable decision by Sutter to boot.
Listen, I'm sure Sutter was a fine coach earlier in earlier in his career, but if it wasn't clear before, it's clear now the game has passed him by.
How do you put Nick Ritchie in the shootout rather than Elias Lindholm or even Tyler Toffoli.
This one decision among other things could be the reason sweeping changes could come during the summer for Calgary
