Following a dangerous hit on Columbus Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine on Friday night, Calgary Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson received a call from the NHL's Department of Player Safety for a hearing.

Just after 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, the Department of Player Safety announced that following their hearing with Rasmus Andersson, they decided to suspended the Swedish blue liner four games for charging on Patrik Laine.

According to Sportsnet's Eric Francis, the Calgary Flames and Rasmus Andersson will appeal the four game suspension.

"Source says the Calgary Flames are planning to appeal the four-game suspension handed to Rasmus Andersson today for his hit on Patrik Laine." Francis said.

If Andersson does decide to appeal, it will need to be formally put forward by the NHL Players Association to the league before it is reviewed, where the suspension could be lowered or stay at four games.

As of now, with Rasmus Andersson suspended for Calgary's next four games, including October 29th's Heritage Classic against the Edmonton Oilers, he won't be eligible to return to the lineup until Wednesday, November 1st against the Dallas Stars.
