While his career in North America may have come to an end a couple of years ago, long-time National Hockey League forward Michael Frolik has continued to play overseas in Europe.

Frolik suited up for Lausanne HC in Switzerland during the 2021-22 season and then returned to his home country last year where he played for Liberec Bili Tygri HC in the Czech Extraliga.

The 35-year-old will stay in Czechia for the 2023-24 season after signing a contract to play for Jaromir Jagr's club, Rytiri Kladno, who he played for back in 2004-05 and 2005-06 prior to coming to Canada for junior hockey.

"We are very happy that Frolda is returning to Kladno, where he grew up playing hockey. In him, we get one of the leaders who will lead our team on the ice and in the cabin," Kladno Sports Manager Jiri Burger said.

Frolik, a native of Kladno, appeared in 48 games last season for Liberec Bili Tygri HC where he had 24 points (ten goals, 14 assists), 28 penalty minutes and was a plus-three.

During his 13 years in the NHL, Frolik suited up in 858 career games with Florida, Chicago, Winnipeg, Calgary, Buffalo and Montreal. In 2013, he helped the Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup, recording ten points in 23 games.
