Conroy goes on to explain that his time getting to know Johnny was an interesting one and at times difficult especially in those early years, but it was only because he knew the magnitude of what Gaudreau could mean to the city of Calgary and the Flames fans, he wasnt wrong. He expresses that when he met Gaudreau's parents Jane and Guy the interaction wasn't necessarily a warm one as they all knew he was there to take their son back to Calgary and away from them. He concludes by applauding what Johnny became and the relationship that was developed with the family, especially Jane and Guy as "Rock Stars" as the team and city embraced them.
The letter itself is a classy gesture by a person who is likely feeling a tremendous amount of pain, much like everyone else. Conroy didn't have to share anything with the public but choose to do so because it was the right thing to do. A sentiment that seems to fit who Johnny Gaudreau was. A wonderful person taken far too soon.
