Savard who spent the 2023 season with the Calgary Flames has been rumoured to be heading to the Toronto Maple Leafs to join new head coach Craig Berube, however with Berube's hiring earlier this week although speculative, it may actually happen. Although Savard's pedigree isn't extensive, he has previous coaching experience with the St Louis Blues during the 2019-2020 season followed by two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Windsor Spitfires and then as mentioned, a season as an assistant coach with the Calgary Flames.
While there is no indication that he and his parting from the Flames have any correlation to Berube ironing out his staff it should be noted that much like Berube, Savard could add an extra layer in his ability to coach in a different manner than anyone who is currently on the Maple Leafs roster has ever seen.
We will have to see if anything materializes, but if the Maple Leafs, Berube and Savard get together, it could make them very difficult to play against moving forward.
