Top Calgary Flames Trade Piece On Pace To Hit Career Low With Embarrassing Record

The Calgary Flames have over performed to expectations this year, but for one top potential trade assets, it's been a season to forget with the Flames.
Nobody quite expected the Calgary Flames to fight for a Wild Card spot in 2024/25, but on the back of Dustin Wolf and great years from their two top veterans, they're fighting it out with just weeks remaining in the season.
One player that hasn't quite helped them the way they would have hoped is defenseman Rasmus Andersson, who is set to enter his final year with the Flames in 2025/26, with the belief being that the team could look to move him in the off-season for a haul after they received plenty of interest in him at the deadline.
In 71 games, Andersson has just 11 goals and 29 points on the season, but it's the +/- that's drawn the attention of the hockey world, as he is now sitting at a -32, putting him well on pace to have the worst differential in a single season in the history of the Flames franchise.
On paper, it's been a solid season for the Flames defensively led by his partner Kevin Bahl and the teams leader Mackenzie Weegar, but given the expectations for Andersson, this is much worse than anyone could have expected from him.
This probably won't effect his trade value too much, as teams see what he can be at his best, especially when surrounded by elite talent, which he certainly isn't in Calgary, but after his performance this season, there's absolutely no doubting that GM Craig Conroy needs to avoid a long-term extension and instead move him in the summer.
