The Carolina Hurricanes acquired at Guentzel from the Pittsburgh Penguins at the NHL trade deadline. The trades saw the Hurricanes had much-needed scoring to their roster. Unfortunately for Carolina the deal didn't work out how they'd hoped and they were eliminated from the playoffs by the New York Rangers.
After multiple attempts to sign Guentzel, it has become clear to the team that they won't be able to complete this task. So in the idea of asset management the hurricanes have now placed Guentzel on trade block. It is currently unclear if this move will be in the form of a straight trade or if Carolina will try and use their advantage to complete a sign and trade.
In 74 games last season between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Carolina Hurricanes, Jake Guentzel has scored 34 goals and 44 assists for a total of 78 points. Over the last week Guentzel has already been linked to both the Chicago Blackhawks and San Jose Sharks who both reportedly have interest in his services.
