The Chicago Blackhawks are in the basement of the NHL with a 9-20-1 record. The result is expected with everyone knowing this would be a rebuilding season in the windy city.

All the interest in this team starts and stops with rookie phenom Connor Bedard. The 18 year old, has been terrific scoring 12 goals and 26 points in 30 games leading all rookies in scoring. Bedard is averaging 19:30 in ice time with it being broken down as 15:42 even strength and 3:47 on the power play.

Bedard has yet to get any reps on the penalty kill with reporter Phillip Thompson asking head coach Luke Richardson about it:

Reporter: Why not let Connor Bedard see every game situation?

Richardson:
«I think he will see every situation — some of it will be from the bench.»

The second year head coach Luke Richardson knows what's best for Bedard development. Richardson is a veteran of over 1400 NHL games as a player and has been behind a bench for 14 seasons at the pro level.
