It's a hot take, for sure. That isn't because it's a negative one. In fact, exactly the opposite. Many fans are taking exception following a hot take by former NHLer P.K. Subban on hockey's newest phenom Connor Bedard.
According to Subban, despite the fact that Bedard has yet to play a regular season game with the Chicago Blackhawks, he's already among the top players in the NHL when it comes to skill.
"If you don't think he's a top 10 player in the league right now in terms of skill, you don't get a seat at my table. Period." - P.K. Subban.
While nothing is ever certain, I see Bedard having a long and successful career in the NHL, barring major injuries. However, top 10 already for skill? That seems like a leap. People also think Subban is putting far too much pressure on Bedard before he even makes his NHL debut.
"Could you imagine being fresh out of high school with full grown adults putting all of these insane expectations on you?"
"The same people hyping him up like crazy are gonna be calling him a bust when he doesn't put up 80 points his rookie season"
"How has literally everything Subban has said since retirement been wrong?"
"Gonna be an empty table." - Comments on the Instagram post.
Subban has been making a bunch of hot takes since announcing his retirement just over a year ago. I get the sense there are many more to come, too.
"Hasn't played a single game yet... PK is off his rocker."
"They gonna ruin this man's career before it even starts lol."
"theres a reason PK isnt playing anymore" - Comment on the Instagram post
