We're only five days away from the start of the 2023-24 NHL season, with rosters needing to be submitted to the league by 5 p.m. ET on Tuesday, October 10th, half-an-hour before the first game of the new campaign between Tampa Bay and Nashville.
As teams continue their preseason games and training camps, rosters are being trimmed down in preparation for opening night and that means several players have been put on the waiver wire over the last week.
According to TSN's Chris Johnston, a total of 16 players were placed on the waiver wire on Thursday afternoon including former eighth overall pick Alexander Nylander. Let's take a look at the full list.
Nick DeSimone (CGY)
Mathias Emilio Pettersen (CGY)
Martin Pospisil (CGY)
Andreas Johnsson (PIT)
Joona Koppanen (PIT)
Alex Nylander (PIT)
Connor Carrick (SEA)
Cameron Hughes (SEA)
Kole Lind (SEA)
Max McCormick (SEA)

Andrew Poturalski (SEA)
Mitch Reinke (SEA)
Jimmy Schuldt (SEA)

As is always the case from the opening of the waiver wire until the end of October, the order of teams that can place a claim is based off of last season's standings in reverse. The Anaheim Ducks get the first crack at placing a claim on any of the players above, followed by the Columbus Blue Jackets and Chicago Blackhawks.
