Former Chicago Blackhawks superstar Patrick Kane is reportedly considering re-signing with the team this summer.
Things have not exactly gone to play for Patrick Kane since he signed with the Detroit Red Wings last season.
The team failed to make the playoffs last year, and appears to be headed for a similar fate this time around as they sit 3 points out with 12 games to play.
Luckily for Kane, he's already accomplished everything there is to do in the NHL so he can relax a bit at the end of his career.
This could mean that he ultimately decides to rejoin the Blackhawks for his last contract in the league.
According to NHL reporter Todd Matthews, Kane is considering re-signing with Chicago in an effort to help the team transition into their next era and be a mentor for Connor Bedard.
"Patrick Kane isn't finished yet, but heading into his age-37 season, he'll be insistent on playing for either a top-ranked contender or the Chicago Blackhawks. Yes, the Blackhawks, as who better to help oversee the team's transition phase than the former face of the franchise? It all depends if Kane wants to hoist the Stanley Cup one more time or help engage in the massive rebuilding project currently going on in the Windy City."
Still though, adding Kane to the team's roster next season would not only be a good gesture to the team's fans, but it would have a positive impact on the development of their next franchise icon.
