It appears that the Chicago Blackhawks may have found their top candidate for their head coaching job, as Denver's David Carle is the one leading the way.

With the offseason on the horizon, the Chicago Blackhawks are poised for yet another coaching switch.
Anders Sorensen is the interim head coach, but a permanent replacement is coming this summer. And the leading candidate, according to Frank Seravalli of 'Daily Faceoff', is David Carle, head coach of the NCAA's Denver Pioneers.
"The Blackhawks have had about five months to put their list together, and there's one name at the very top that's been circled that has separated himself from the rest of the pack. That is David Carle from Denver University," Seravalli told Pat Boyle of Chicago Sports Network. "The Blackhawks are going to want to get after him, but they're not going to be alone."
Carle's name has gained traction after a stunning streak of success. He's guided Denver to a pair of national championships and led Team USA to gold medals at the last two World Junior Championships.
His track record of winning and player development history make him a coveted candidate for the retooling Blackhawks. At just 35 years old, Carle's coaching career began sooner than most.

A heart condition ended Carle's career as a player at a very young age

After a heart condition abruptly ended his playing career early before the 2008 NHL Draft, the Alaskan native shifted his focus to coaching immediately. He joined Denver's staff as an assistant and continually built his way up.
The Blackhawks, meanwhile, are winding down another disappointing campaign. They are near the bottom of the NHL standings with a 25-46-11 record and just 61 points. It is now five consecutive seasons they have missed the playoffs.
Luke Richardson, who was head coach at the start of the year, was relieved of his duties after a terrible 8-16-2 start, paving the way for Sorensen's interim role.
Now, with the squad looking toward the future, all signs point toward a fresh start behind the bench, and Carle could be the guy to lead the charge.
