Avalanche sign six-time 20+ goal scorer to one-year deal
The Colorado Avalanche are adding a scoring punch to their roster ahead of training camp, which is set to open next week.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Avalanche have agreed to terms on a one-year contract worth $1.5 million with unrestricted free agent forward Tomas Tatar.
Tatar, 32, became an unrestricted free agent on July 1st after spending the previous two seasons with the New Jersey Devils, where he played pretty well in a middle-six role.
In 82 games for the Devils last season, Tatar had 48 points (20 goals, 28 assists), 30 penalty minutes and was a plus-41. He went on to add one goal and four penalty minutes in 12 games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Adding a player like Tomas Tatar could be big for the Colorado Avalanche if he's able to perform. It's a pretty low-risk signing at only $1.5 million for the one-year, but if he's able to put up 20 goals or more for the seventh time in his National Hockey League career, it'll help an Avalanche team who needs some depth scoring this year.
