Avs Blueliner with History of Concussions Gets Knocked out of Game by Big Hit
You have to admire his tenacity, but at some point, Bowen Byram will have to make a difficult decision regarding his NHL future. The Colorado Avalanche defenceman, who has battled concussions his entire career, was knocked out of last night's game against the Anaheim Ducks following a huge hit.
Byram was skating through the offensive zone and looking the other way when he was smoked by Max Jones with a big, clean hit.
Byram left the game with an upper-body injury and did not return.
Following the game, Avs coach Jared Bednar had no update on Byram. The 22-year-old has missed a ton of games throughout his career with concussions and head injuries, and at one point thought he may have to retire because of them.
