Colorado Avalanche Latest Game Up In The Air Due To Severe Storms

The Colorado Avalanche have been red-hot as of late, and after a 3-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks, they were headed home to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets late in the evening on Thursday.

However, nature may have other plans, as Aaron Portzline of The Athletic has now revealed that there are severe storms in the Mid West, and that has resulted in the Avalanche not leaving Chicago as of 9.30 am ET.

Unsurprisingly, that puts their game at home against Columbus in danger of being rescheduled, however the team are still confident they'll be able to fly out later in the morning and make the game.

As of right now, the NHL believe the game will still go ahead and are yet to reschedule, but if things get a bit too late with the Avalanche leaving town, there may need to be something done about the situation.

The game is currently scheduled for 7.30 pm ET, and with the Blue Jackets desperate for two points in their Wild Card fight in the Eastern Conference, the last thing they want is for a game to be rescheduled.

With the 7.30 PM start, there's always the potential for the game to be pushed back an hour or more to make it work for both teams, but at this point in time it's unclear when the Avalanche players will be leaving Chicago, so expect plenty more updates on this developing story as the day goes on.
