Disaster for the Maple Leafs Ahead of Playoffs as Top Defenseman Leaves Game Due to Injury

Once again this season, the Toronto Maple Leafs will look to end their season strong and enter the playoffs with momentum. The Leafs' struggles in the playoffs over the last few seasons definitely come into play when making predictions for the postseason tournament.
The Leafs' reputation for losing in the playoffs won't go away easily, and it could be even harder due to two incidents that occurred in last night's game against the Florida Panthers.

Kämpf and McCabe Leave Game with Injuries Ahead of Playoffs

While the Leafs had cause to celebrate last night after winning the game against the Florida Panthers, as Craig Berube's team managed to clinch a playoff spot, many fans were worried about the health of two players: David Kämpf and Jake McCabe.
Both players were forced to retreat to the locker room. Kämpf left after the following incident, towards the end of the second period:
As for McCabe, he left with less than two minutes to go in the game with an injury, likely sustained in this moment:
Craig Berube didn't reveal any details after the game, and fans are still waiting for updates regarding the two players' injuries.
The Leafs' next game isn't until next Saturday, with a clash scheduled against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Toronto has seven games left in the season, holding a three-point lead over the Panthers.
Now that the team has clinched its playoff spot, finishing the year in first place in their division is likely their next goal.
Berube opened up about his team's season:
"Our team has played very consistently this year and did a really good job of changing their style of play and adapting to it over time. It doesn't happen overnight it takes a while. But they've learned to figure it out in different areas of the game.

"It's been a pleasure."
