Nathan MacKinnon Makes Heartbreaking Comments After Crashing Out of Playoffs
The Colorado Avalanche have once again been eliminated in round one of the playoffs, and a dejected Nathan MacKinnon's frustration clearly showed after the loss.
Despite being one of the most top-heavy teams in the NHL, the Colorado Avalanche have struggled to get it done in the Stanley Cup Playoffs in recent years, with the team making it past round two just once during the reign of Jared Bednar.
Unfortunately, that struggle continued on Saturday night as the team allowed their former teammate Mikko Rantanen to score a third period hat-trick to end the game with four points as he ended their season with a 4-2 victory.
Things were clearly hard in the Avs locker room after the heartbreaking loss, and unfortunately for MacKinnon, he admits that this one was the worst loss of his entire NHL career.

He would go on to elaborate, addressing how Dallas were missing their top two stars, as he has looked into the future in Colorado, revealing just how murky it truly looks.
«They were missing their best D and maybe their best forward. We still couldn't beat them so, yeah, I don't know what we're gonna do.»
While it's almost completely unlikely that the team would consider trading one of their top stars, this latest playoff failure appears to be hitting the team a little different, and with very few young names coming through the organization, a change may be needed.

Those are the questions the front office must answer this summer, but after this tough loss, MacKinnon and no doubt Cale Makar are feeling it, and if they can't turn their fantastic regular seasons into success anytime soon, the teams hand may eventually be forced.
