The Columbus Blue Jackets have added two players to their training camp on professional tryouts. Both players will be evaluated during camp, with the Blue Jackets then decided whether to award either of them with a contract for the regular season.
The first player added is goaltender Aaron Dell. The 34-year-old has spent most of his career with the San Jose Sharks and, at one point, was seeing plenty of starts. However, he's played just 23 games in the NHL over the past three seasons with a record of 2-16-1. Columbus will likely be using Elvis Merzlikins as its starter this season, but the backup position is wide open right now.
Next is defenceman Nicolas Meloche. Meloche, a former second round pick, has also spent most of his playing career with the San Jose Sharks and was a teammate of Dell's there. Meloche has played a total of 57 games in the NHL so far, scoring two goals and eight points.
