Big changes coming as NHL unveils new streaming partnership

The NHL has announced a multi-year partnership with DAZN, a move that will make the sports streaming giant the official home of NHL.TV for fans outside North America starting this season.
This agreement will bring live NHL games to nearly 200 countries, offering a new level of accessibility for international hockey fans as the league looks to grow its global reach.
While not available in the United States, Canada, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, or Norway due to existing broadcast deals, the partnership could change how millions of fans around the world watch NHL action in 2025-26.
How the NHL's DAZN deal expands its international reach and connects more fans to the league
DAZN Group CEO Shay Segev expressed excitement about the deal, saying,
«DAZN's landmark agreement with the NHL is a significant step forward in our mission to deliver the most exciting sports action to fans across the globe. We're excited to bring a premium North American sports property to a broad international audience through an innovative, accessible, and immersive viewing experience.»
For the NHL, this is more than a broadcasting shift.
NHL Chief Operating Officer Steve McArdle highlighted why the partnership matters for the league's future, stating,
«The NHL is a global league, and with 30 percent of our players born outside of North America, engaging our international fans is a significant priority. Media distribution is at the core of our global strategy, and we are thrilled to partner with DAZN to continue to expand our global reach and engage with our fast-growing international fan base.»
I think this move will not only help more fans follow stars like Connor McDavid and Mikko Rantanen but also encourage more international hockey events in the coming years.
The DAZN streaming service officially launches with the 2025-26 NHL season.
