Blockbuster trade proposal: Rangers offer huge package for Jason Robertson

A recent piece from Heavy.com floated a trade idea that would see New York pursue Jason Robertson by sending prospects and picks to Dallas.

According to the proposal, the Rangers would acquire Robertson in exchange for Gabriel Perreault, Brennan Othmann, a 2026 first-round pick, and a 2028 third-round pick.

It's a massive package, but the logic is clear, New York is desperate for a shake-up after missing the playoffs, and Robertson, an 80-point winger entering the final year of his $31 million deal, would instantly transform their top line.

The question is whether Dallas would even entertain such an offer. The Stars are tight against the salary cap, and Robertson's next contract could be even bigger.

Trading him would not only provide future cap relief but also replenish the farm system with two former first-round picks.

Perreault, drafted 16th overall in 2021, projects as a skilled top-six winger, while Othmann has struggled to find his spot in New York but still carries strong upside. For Dallas, the deal would mean sacrificing proven production for longer-term flexibility and depth.

From New York's perspective, the gamble is obvious. Robertson could be the piece that carries them forward, especially with uncertainty around Artemi Panarin's future. As Rangers GM Chris Drury recently said:

Personally, I think Dallas would only move Robertson if they knew he wasn't staying long term, otherwise, losing their top scorer would be too big of a risk.
